Student Wellbeing

We recognise that strong staff-student relationships underpin effective teaching and learning. Our physical structures as well as policies and practices support the development of these relationships.

The promotion of wellbeing is central to learning and teaching in contemporary learning environments. At St Lawrence Primary School we recognize that children learn best when they are in a safe and engaging environment.

We aim to promote:

  • A positive sense of self in relationship with God and others
  • A sense of optimism and confidence in one’s abilities
  • Family and community partnerships with our school
  • Opportunities to enhance student engagement, connectedness and belonging
  • The explicit teaching of social and emotional skills

At St Lawrence we have implemented a whole school approach to the promotion of  wellbeing. We provide explicit programs and implicit learning opportunities to enhance student wellbeing and to meet the individual needs of our all of our students through a variety of services, educational programs, initiatives and opportunities. These include:

  • Student Wellbeing Leader and Assistant Leaders
  • School psychologists
  • Personal Safety Education
  • PBL – Positive Behaviour for Learning
  • Social Emotional Learning
  • Buddy Program
  • Student Leaders
  • Cybersafety Education
  • Peaceful Kids Program
  • Kinder-Prep & Secondary School Transition Support Programs
  • Child Safety Program
